Market Cap

The Market Capitalization of a company is the number of shares outstanding times the last closing price and represents value of the company as seen by the market.

Typically, companies are catagorized by market cap into Large Caps, Mid Cap, and Small Cap. A more complete categorization would be:

• Mega Cap: more than $200 billion
• Large Cap: $10 billion to $200 billion
• Mid Cap: $2 billion to $10 billion
• Small Cap: $300 million to $2 billion
• Micro Cap: $50 million to $300 million
• Nano Cap: less than $50 million
